Genbu-Kai England Sets World Record

November 22nd 2008

England, UK now holds the Record as recorded by the Guinness book of Records, for the longest martial arts continuous training at 36 hours. The previous record held by the USA was 24 hours. The training started on Friday 21st Nov 8am and finished on 22nd Nov at 8pm. The attempt was put together by the Manchester police karate club but members from other clubs were invited to take part. With that 3 members of the Genbu-Kai England group stepped forward. Wayne Turley, Dave Smith and Wayne’s son Ryan Turley.  The web link says they were all members of the police club but not true.  Wayne and Dave are the 2 guys in the frame doing the leg locks. And it is Dave on the bed having a leg rub! The attempt was successful and now together with 7 others, they hold the world record. Well done all, fantastic job!

Tournament Charting Group
October 31st 2008

Thank you to the Charting group!  While the rest of U.S. Genbu-Kai members were busy "Trick or Treating" or dealing with ghosts and goblins, these intrepid volunteers were preparing the Charting for the 43rd Annual Genbu-Kai Interdojo Tournament.  Their extra effort helped make the tournament a really special and memorable event.  All Genbu-Kai members should learn how to do charting.  If you haven't learned already, there will be another opportunity announced just before the February tournament.
